The first casualty of war is innocence. In other words, this game is flippity-floppity hard! Seriously, file this game under ‘Difficult to play/Wish you had a map’. But, if you’re like me, you’d probably just play the title screen for a while. That’s how sweet the song is.

Sorry, for the long wait. I was intent on finding the Paperboy song and it took me awhile. Alas, it was worth it. Thank you, YouTube! I’m posting not only the NES version, but the arcade version, as well.

This song is the ‘Stage 1′ song. I hope you like it, ’cause you’re gonna be hearing a lot of it. This game is pretty hard – I couldn’t get past the first stage. But then again, I’m a dummy.

This is so sweet, that I have to make up a word for it: yummyflufferness. Starscream brings something new to the ears (or, at least mine) with their EP Future, and it Doesn’t Work; drums! This one is a trophy and therefore gets set on the top shelf of my heart, for all the geeks to hear.

Sorry, it took so long to post, but I couldn’t find the song from the game I wanted…but this will do. This one is from Ninja Gaiden (a.k.a. Shadow Warriors).

I could copy and paste this band’s info/bio/whatever, but I’d feel like I was cheating you. So, I’m going to write some info about this band…Ronie style.

The Nova Saints hail from Hereford, but their sound is straight from Heaven. They are heavily influenced by the bands of Creation Records and you can tell. Listening to these guys will take you back to when ‘emo’ was just an underground scene, Home Improvement was in it’s second season and Pepsi came out with their version of ‘New Coke’, Crystal Pepsi.

Their EP, The Draft, was produced by The Verve’s guitarist Nick McCabe. And the four songs of straight-up goodness are so good that it’s hard to believe that these gents are unsigned. Shame.

I’m in a tired, cool kind of a mood. I feel like listening to an acoustic version of the Replacements’ “Can’t Hardly Wait” — an acoustic version that was recored in an echo chamber.

What’s that, you say? There’s such a thing?! Suhweeeeet!!!!

Since it’s a new year (and a late post), I’ll put two up for this month only. But first, a little info about Shadowgate…

Storyline:

As the last of the Line of Kings, only you possess the power to prevent the evil Warlock Lord from raising the Behemoth and unleashing it upon the land. Your quest lies within the Castle Shadowgate with its secret passageways, collapsing floors, and armed creatures. Your courage and wisdom will see you through… but a good sword might be helpful.

This game was known for two things: imminent death and high difficulty. So, if you’re a nerd with a sadist urge for failure, then I suggest you play Shadowgate. I know I will!

Rygar had some decent music, but it was “Den of Sagila” that was the ’stand-out’ song of the game.
